Downton Abbey - the film.

I'm just back from the cinema feeling a bit disappointed.

This film was not so good as the TV series. I was amazed to see the ex Butler Carson called back to duty to serve the visiting king & queen. I guess his shaky hands had undergone a miraculous cure as they didn't shake one bit as he poured the wine!

In all I found the 'plot' a bit flimsy but watchable...

Anybody else seen it?

Not seen it yet - not sure if I want to. I enjoyed most of the original stories - thought the very last ones were a bit pathetic though. It surprised me that Maggie Smith gave in and appeared in the film. When it was first mentioned she said she didn't want to as it would be 'over milking the cash cow'.

Did you know that 'Highclere Castle' is Downton Abbey and lies on the main A34 between Winchester and Newbury

And in the film they claimed that Downton Abbey was in Yorkshire.......

Well I rather enjoyed it except where the blokes were kissing...

Re: Downton Abbey - the film.

I've never seen the series and I'm not interested, but my pal loves it and wants to go, so for companionship's sake I'm off to the cinema with her. I just hope she doesn't whisper who's who all through it!
