Re: Tanker

I wonder why the decision was made to let these stowaways come ashore?

Everyone knew they were there before the vessel arrived in the UK!

I'm pretty sure that anyone on that ship is the responsibility of the Country which the ship belongs to?

A food parcel, and a fond farewell, and they could be on the way back to where they came from, on the ship they came in on.

That might encourage the ship owners to check who they were carrying.

Re: Tanker

If they apply for asylum they will be granted time for their application to be adjudicated and if denied the probability is that unless they have proof of nationality will not be deported anywhere for that reason, â and even if they have legal proof of nationality human rights legislation would step in to prevent deportation. Sickening.

If we had denied the vessel entry to UK waters, for whatever reason (Covid, etc), the tanker owners would have had to do the arithmetic of profits from the cargo versus the cost of taking their passengers elsewhere.

I think it's obvious that the shipowners would have known about the stowaways long before they entered our waters.

It's hard to miss 9 hungry giants roaming round in a ship with, possibly, only a normal crew of a dozen.

They've played us!

Of course they have. The only question is who are they? Certainly not just the Niggerian stowaways.

Re: Tanker

Hi

Simple solution from days of old.

When we had a decent home secretary.

The ship would not have been allowed to dock

Stowaways handcuffed, ship and crew in no danger, job done.

Turn it around, at huge cost to the owners and a deterrent to others.

Perfectly legal, unfortunately Ms Patel is not up to it.

A certain, blind, Labour Home Secretary was most definitely up to it.

That was precisely what I was praying for (including having a few SBS grunts staying on board "just in case"). Unfortunately, my prayers went unanswered.
