Re: Mammogramme

I find dignity flies out of the window when your in hospital. Recovering from a heart attack the male nurse was going to do an ECG he was trying to stick the connector things onto my body under the gown, after a lot of fiddle faddling I suggested it may be easier if he lowered to top part of the gown so he could see where he was trying to put them instead of guessing. His reply was Can't do that, hospital policy, some women aren't allowed to let any other man than their husband see their naked body. All I said was Well the way you're going on You'll be accusing Me of rape if you don't hurry up. He shot off like a scalded cock and sent a female nurse back. Apparently it added insult to injury since the poor bloke was gay.

Re: Mammogramme

I went on Monday for my Mammogramme. I nearly fainted. First two were bad enough. Second two were compleat agony. Their is not much of me being a size 8. She sqeezed them that tight, their was about quarter of an inches between the top and bottom. I am still sore, even now under my arm.
I would never go again, if it was not that importent to go.
I have had had about 5 up to now, this has been the worst one.

Re: Mammogramme

Shaz, I hope you are more comfortable today. I've heard being small up top makes it worse but I'm sure they could do them without so much pain involved. I'm pleased to hear you won't give up though

My last one was very uncomfortable as well - to say the least. I'm not very big & it really hurt. They dont usually hurt that much but this one did

Saw this article this morning, thought that it was appropriate to put here, to encourage us all to keep up the mammograms. And to make sure we encourage our daughters too.

Re: Mammogramme

There was a man on last week with breast cancer for the second time the first time it was operable, but not the second and the specialist was saying although it's very uncommon for men to get it, it's not that rare so gents you'd better get checking yourselves too, or get the OH to. )

Yes I find them uncomfortable too. Not painful. So far haven't had to got back for any retakes. I would say to everyone to go for it every time. Not to miss it.

Ania, it could be the x-rays weren't good enough. When have you got to go back? Let us know.

Ania try not to worry x

I have just cancelled my mammogram which was due today.

Eighteen months ago I had a chest x - ray which was ok.
I am waiting to see a consultant which I know will mean more chest x- rays so I don't feel happy about subjecting my body to yet another dose of radiation just now.
