Of course ther's more serious things going on in the world and there's nothing we can do about them. What's wrong with wanting to go to a concert and escape from reality for a while? OK, he's not my 'cup of tea', but plenty of people want to see him.

Just another "silly season" story. No harm in that.

Who said there was anything wrong with wanting to go to the concert? It's the inordinate amount of broadcasting coverage that bothers me.

Garth Brooks is like a hidden Elvis. When last I looked, he had outsold every other artist/group in the world bar Elvis, yet is still relatively unknown. If he had announced he was playing 35 dates in Dublin, let alone 5, every ticket would have been sold within a few hours. My wife is such a huge fan that she flew to Dallas to see him a few years ago and she was annoyed that the Dublin tickets had all sold out before she could get some. He has a huge worldwide fan base and has written some excellent songs:

To keep it in the family, he is also married to the biggest female country artist in the world - Trisha Yearwood

Re: You can only laugh...

I LOVE Garth Brooks. He is really talented. However, not much has been heard from him since 2001 when he "Retired". Now I guess he's making a come back. Good for him.

Never heard the country song I've Got Friends in Low Places"? That was one of his biggest hits.. along with Rodeo and The Dance. I have several of his CDs.

Blame it all on my roots
I showed up in boots
And ruined your black tie affair
The last one to know
The last one to show
I was the last one
You thought you'd see there
And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
And I toasted you
Said, honey, we may be through
But you'll never hear me complain

'Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh, I've got friends in low places

Well, I guess I was wrong
I just don't belong
But then, I've been there before
Everything's all right
I'll just say goodnight
And I'll show myself to the door
Hey, I didn't mean
To cause a big scene
Just give me an hour and then
Well, I'll be as high
As that ivory tower
That you're livin' in

'Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh, I've got friends in low places

3rd Verse:
I guess I was wrong
I just don't belong
But then, I've been there before
And everything is alright
I'll just say goodnight
And I'll show myself to the door
I didn't mean to cause a big scene
Just wait 'til I finish this glass
Then sweet little lady
I'll head back to the bar
And you can kiss my ass

Now that I know he is touring again, I will keep a look out for him in my area.
