It relies on mans fear of death to control the masses.
It would seem we are the only species on earth to want an afterlife and for that we need a God with a heaven we can hopefully go to when our span here is done.
So behave in a certain manner you get heaven and if not you get eternal suffering.
It's a proven formula and it works .
Despite tha fact that pleas to gods who often demand tremendous sacrifices generally go unheeded.

The Greeks tried to replace it with philosophy and look where they ended up.
These days it seems Netflix is the new religion.

I wish more people would actually look into Islam and see what their beliefs are regarding Women, LGBQ People and Sharia. A few examples below;Homosexuality is a abomination the punishment is death
Leaving the Islamic faith (Apostate) the punishment is death
Women own nothing and only the oldest son inherits
Women are not equal to men and must obey husbands, fathers.
When you travel to say New zealand and stop off at Dubai or Bahrain just remember that behind the fence the above rules apply.
Under the veil of the religion of peace it is nothing of the sort

Even if they could find a few Emmeline Pankhursts in their midst, do you really believe that would give them the courage to risk harm so they could wear what they want?
I have read many reports that say Saudi women, forced to wear the black cloaks, were often naked underneath..... as a form of protest, but they wouldn't have survived if anyone had seen them naked!
The women you know have been conditioned to remain covered & are probably afraid and embarrassed to say they don't like it.
Ask yourself , how many women would choose to wear long black cloaks( which retain the heat owing to the colour!) in temperatures of over 40 degrees C.? They have to in Saudi!
You cannot speak for Islam based on the relatively few you have met in the UK, because the law in the UK would punish many of their actions.... if the women had the courage to report them! Sadly they don't have that courage.
