Advertising hype.

I wonder how many of us fall for it.
As part of an economy drive I decided to look at all the branded names of products that I buy and try to find a product that would do EXACTLY the same job and save money.
I have saved a small fortune by replacing, in particular, cleaning products with a brand that is not an household name. But they do as good a job, if not better in some cases, as the much more expensive products.
There are however some products I would not even consider replacing, no matter how much I would save, my preferred washing powder being one of them.
Is there any particular product that you would not replace?

Marmite cos Vegemite is horrid !
Heinz tomato ketchup and HP sauce are a must as well
Also Branston pickle.
For the rest I usually buy Sainsburys own brands as they are good value for money.

Just about everything I buy I do so because it is tried and tested, if I venture to another brand I am frequently disappointed.

I have tried own brand cleaning products and found them inferior, the floor cleaner for example is too foamy and leaves smears. I would rather wait until my preferred product is on a buy 2 get 1 free offer then stock up.

Lee & Perrin Worcester Sauce - there is no 'own brand' imitation available.
