Make your own Mixed Herbs

Bart Mixed Herbs in Waitrose costs £2.99 for 14g (the large jar)

Ingredients:
Thyme, Marjoram, Sage, Parsley, Oregano.

Buying the herbs separately from Amazon and ORGANIC, in 500g pouches each, costs just over £50.

So 2.5KG of mixed herbs if you add equal amounts of each.

That much in Bart jars would cost over £500 !!!! 1000% profit

I am in the wrong business

As the former Director and pot boy of `Smiling Cat Herbs` I can assure you it is no way to get rich. Well it was fresh herbs.

I can believe that having tried to grow my own a couple of times - mint is easy though now can't get rid of it

Yes mint can spread a bit,as does Horseradish and lemon balm is rather naughty about seeding all over the show.

Never tried to grow either of those, trouble here is we have such heavy clay soil and most herbs seem to need it lighter and drier.

The cheaper ones don't taste the same to me (they often add basil to try and make up for the poor quality herbs they use.)

Cheaper still to grow your own in pots and mix them as you need them...

Nothing wrong with basil and it adds a nice flavour to soups etc.

Julie, I grow my mint in a pot. It seems to contain it perfectly, then I each year I just turn it out of the pot, split it and repot however much I want to grow on.
The bits I don't want go over the tip though incase it spreads in the compost bin otherwise!
I've done that for years and never had a problem with it spreading anywhere else.
