You've had an unmatched running career and have survived two heart attacks. How have each changed your perspective on life? Or have they?

Thanks Surfermom, good to see you here.....
To be honest Surfermom I don't have many friends these days...
Most of them have either passed away, moved away or changed their lifestyles away from the things we all had in common. I know where to find to some of the special ones, and they know where to find me, But with the demise of the running club and the local boozer (public house) the Tesco (Supermarket) is the only place I might bump into some of them for a nag and to block the isles. Much to the annoyance of other shoppers.....
Neighbours are very good around here, with a couple who are very special friends, and we have had many adventures together, including holidays. I suppose I prefer friends like me, or at least with plenty in common. Not necessarily runners, but with similar likes and dislikes. When our neighbours moved here about eight years ago we hit it off straight away, so much so that our wives reckon we were twins and separated at birth...
The three characteristics that best describe me:-
Happy; I try not to worry about things I have no control over. Chin Up!
Tolerant; I try to see the good in everybody, sometimes sticking up for the underdog and accepting people for who they are, even the dumb and boring....Well....maybe not the boring...
I consider that not losing your temper in an argument is as good as a win...
Even if your wrong!
Staunch; Mainly with myself, once I make a decision I seldom change my mind. There is no excuse for missing a run! And keep a stiff upper lip, don't let the enemy see you cry....
Don't forget......Rules is Rules....The ref is
always right....
After my first Heart Attack I realised that the things I thought were important just weren't.
You only get one life and it's worth fighting to keep it as long as possible, but sitting on my butt just wasn't an option....
After my second Heart Attack I realised that perhaps it's time to slow down.....
