It is easy to criticise without knowing the exact circumstances. Of course, details like that never stop people criticising!

Actually a friend of a friend confirmed the circumstances of her own experience of this individual. So that makes it easier to criticise.

Good point.
Or if it had been a chap shouting and swearing at his colleagues, especially female colleagues.
Apparently she was advised a year ago to show more respect to them. There's really no excuse for bullying and I can imagine a load of claims of harassment or bullying in the workplace will now be in jeopardy of been dismissed.
Or even on social media come to that ... the aggressor can simply claim they didn't realise they were upsetting other people.

I would love it if they'd been more specific as just how bad her level of swearing and shouting was/is.

You have a friend who has a friend who has been present whilst Priti was (supposedly) shouting and swearing at her underlings?

Impressive.

You've heard about Chinese whispers, of course.

I shouldn't be at all surprised to find out that there has been an element of exaggeration!

Re: Senior Home Office official QUITS after vicious rows with Priti Patel

Again, context is very important here. All we are hearing is one side, that of the cry baby senior civil servant. The issue of respect keeps cropping up. Was Patel shown respect by the civil servants? or did they immediately take a disliking to her even before they met her? Was her authority undermined by the civil servants hence her alleged outbursts.

What I find annoying is that the majority of people are automatically coming to the defence of the alleged bullied senior civil servant because that is all the media have reported on, is allegedly how badly HE has been treated. It could be a case that the fault is actually the doing of the civil servant(s) for not treating Ms Patel with the respect she deserves but because cry baby senior civil servant went to the press first to tell (sell) his story, his version of events is the only one that is being believed. He could have been the instigator of the problem(s) but we will not know that until the tribunal case comes to court.

It could be worse still. The cry baby civil servant might have taken offence at who he was obliged to work for:

a woman!

a woman of Indian extraction!!

I am looking forward to the tribunal as well because we will get to hear Patel's side of events * rather than just the one sided events we currently keep on hearing from the cry baby ex senior civil servant.
* You may not - BJ will resist any attempt to make Patel attend .....

Exactly ..... employees lower down the scale would be subject to instant disciplinary proceedings for abusive behaviour towards others - Patel used her "status" to get away with unprofessional conduct .....

The "exact circumstances" have been persistently suppressed by Patel's friends in government but, even so, some have, previously, come to light:

Priti Patel: Bullying claims from time at DfID revealed
By Nicholas Watt

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-51731753

Home Secretary Priti Patel has been accused of bullying staff at a third government department, BBC Newsnight has learned.

The claims are from her time as International Development Secretary from 2016 to 2017, and follow similar claims at the Home Office and the Department for Work and Pensions.
The BBC reported on Monday that an official in the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) received a £25,000 payout after alleging she was bullied by Ms Patel in 2015 during her time as employment minister.

The DWP did not admit liability and the case did not come before a tribunal.

Newsnight has now learned that in 2017, Ms Patel was allegedly accused by officials in her private office at DfID of humiliating civil servants in front of others, of putting heavy pressure in emails and of creating a general sense that "everyone is hopeless".

The latest claims to come to light were reportedly passed in 2017 to the DfID official by another senior figure in the department - who advised that the cabinet secretary at the time, the late Lord Heywood, should be informed.

The senior figure wanted the allegations to be lodged in the Whitehall system so that officials would be aware of allegations surrounding Ms Patel if, as expected, she returned to ministerial office.

Ms Patel resigned as Secretary of State for International Development in November 2017 over an unauthorised visit to Israel *.
* In 2017, Patel was involved in a political scandal involving unauthorised meetings with the Government of Israel which breached the Ministerial Code, ending her tenure as International Development Secretary.
