Re: Solicitors/inheritance/family or all 3

Wow - I should have such worries - when my old dad died he left me his ancient van, and a good musical ear. Both he and the van are long departed, but the melody lingers on....

Of course, and what other trade or profession can get away with such staggering inefficiencies and high labour costs. I have seen legal types who charge £300 or £400 per hour, the high court bods are on double or treble that.

To get into law school the most important qualification is a huge ego, if you ever go to one of these 'schools' you will notice that the doors have all been widened to cater for the ego's of the students

And never ever take a solicitor to court for anything, Bill Roche (The Coromation Street actor) did that and it cost him half a million pounds, that's why Granada keept him in the cast for so long (He was trying to support the character he plays which is what Granada should have done but some how it was left to Bill to go to court, was a silly thing anyway and should have just been ignored)

I know we are very lucky my Steven's mum inherited a small piece of land after the war, right in the middle of Churt, near Farnham in Surrey. That piece of land was valued at 13/6d in 1950 when she died in 1996 it was worth £250,000 !
Invested the money has gone down to £200,000 but that is still a tidy sum divided by the 4 brothers.

Re: Solicitors/inheritance/family or all 3

I´ve always assumed from day one that the only money I shall ever get is that which I´ve earned, and luckily that´s how it´s come to pass all my life. Therefore there´s been no spats with relatives, no dodgy solicitors to pay through the nose, and no feelings of unearned privilege. I have been very fortunate.

I fully agree with Patsy. Whatever you eventually receive will be much needed by you, so I hope it's not too long now.
