You don't get much information at the weekend. What will be released today will relate to Friday. But it's likely understated. They usually do a catch up on Mon/tues.

I read that BJ & gov are planning yet another big reorganisation of the NHS to basically reverse all the change in the last big reorganisation which was meant to split the NHS from political control. The news reports say they plan to bring it back into direct political control. Just at the time that the NHS does not need more meddling. Amazing that it's not making bigger headlines given the major role the NHS has played in dealing with Covid.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

Was a bit dumbstruck this evening when it was reported that 40% of people with Covid 19 show no symptoms at all.

No wonder it is so hard to control.

Perhaps it's because the tests are rubbish and the 40% never had it in the first place. How else are they going to get 7 billion frightened punters to have the vaccine.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

Many people don't have symptoms of STDs but pass them on. The result is cancer and infertility. But you don't see the effects for years. I hope this is not the same. There has been a study linking it to subsequent brain disease in those with a mild version.

I have read that too.

Recently there was an interview on a radio current affairs program of a UK epidemiologist who caught the disease and recovered BUT is still showing symptoms similar to chronic fatigue syndrome many weeks after "recovering". He has maintained a blog recording his experiences.

You have been making these Trump like comments since the beginning of this thread yet you don't even have the qualification of being a TV personality.

There is no vaccine and may never be yet half a million people are dead so far and we have currently no idea of the long term effects on the 12 million who have already contracted the disease.

Anyway how about a few facts:

The Cochrane Instutute (our resident anti vaxxers favourite source) reported

In a sample of 1000 people where 200 people (20%) really have COVID-19, typical of workers in a hospital setting where COVID-19 patients have been treated:

193 people would receive a positive test result but 10 (5%) of those people would not have COVID-19 (known as a false positive result);
807 people would receive a negative test result but 17 (2%) of those people would have COVID-19 (known as false negative result).

So no 40% there

A friend's daughter is suffering in the same way. She is 28 was perfectly healthy and with no underlying conditions yet cannot recover after months. With something that can cause this level of damage to the body there are so many unanswered questions on the long term effects once it's in the system. Time will tell whether it becomes latent like some of the other nasty viruses around.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

I have just heard there are 72 confirmed cases among pickers on a farm 5 miles away and a mile from where I have spent the day walking. I am so glad I resisted the temptation to go to the shops, I know the pickers often go into town in a mini bus.
