Re: Stolen puppies
There has been a lot about these crimes for a long time, in my dog magazine.
They are saying the reason why these crimes are so rapidly on the increase, is the penalties are so puny and rarely enforced anyway.
The trouble is, with the huge rise in prices of pedigree puppies now, it is well worth the risk for thieves. A litter of say, 10, at £2,000 or more a piece is not to be sniffed at, especially as even if they are caught later, a suspended sentence or a month in jail is still well worth it.
They will also steal dogs to flog to puppy farms, and others for bait for fighting dogs, as well as litters of puppies to flog.
Have a look at one of the articles in 'Dogs Today' magazine.
It even lists the most popular dogs thieves are after.
Yet I still see people leaving them outside shops and sitting alone in cars!!
