What Did You Buy That For?

When I go out for a little wander, around the shops, I often spot some gadget, or clothing, which looks interesting.

So I treat myself.

Snag is,that when my three daughters see what I've bought, they, pretty much, always say "What've you bought that for?"

Over the years I've built a defence mode for answers.

Like "I've had it ages", or "it was only a couple of quid in the charity shops"

It doesn't help when I forget to take the labels off!

Why do I feel guilty?

It's my money, my enjoyment, my fun!

That's right, you can't take it with you when you go.

I collect wooden ducks, decoys & other carved ones. When OH was alive & I'd bought a new one, I had to hide it among the others so he wouldn't notice, when he did, if he did I'd say, 'no that's been there for ages'. He rarely twigged. Now I can buy them & display them anywhere I like. I have quite a collection.

I buy things like that Ted. I recently bought this prism pyramid purely because I liked the look of it.

Re: What Did You Buy That For?

You continue to treat yourself to whatever you fancy Tedc. I'm sure your children don't really mean it when they make their remarks, but if they do, sod em' I say. You spent half your life working hard to support your family, with both you and your wife spending so much money bringing up each one of your children, if one was to total up the money for repayment, they wouldn't ever earn enough to pay you back.

So, ignore them, let them make their off the cuff remarks and continue happily to reward yourself whenever and however you wish. You have absolutely no-one to answer to.

I'd seen a similar item on the front page of Imgur (image hosting site) and looked out for it. Had a browse of the Internet in the end and found it on Amazon.
