Toilet Has Life Of It's Own

What's wrong when the toilet runs for a bit after flushing but will eventually stop running. Also what's eerie is that you could be sitting there literally minding your own business & the toilet suddenly comes alive an hour later!

Sounds like you either have some dirt in the syphon or it has a badly worn seal. You need someone to strip it down and check because it rarely gets better on it's own.

It's hard to say without looking inside it, if it is flushing by itself it may be a faulty flush syphon, or it may be the internal overflow.

In my house it usually means that 'techno' cat has been playing about with the flush button again !

My hubby say's it could the overflow valve that's not shutting off, and it run's back into the toilet and not through the pipe outside of the house like the old type..

That's funny ST! No Jimmy it doesn't actually 'flush' on its own. I think I'd be running out of the house if that happened ��. It just starts up again then stops. All is quiet.

It could very well have a life of it's own AC.
There is the possibility that it could be haunted. An old friend of mine many years ago lived in a small country house on his own, the toilet was way down his back yard and had been the place where his grandfather shot himself as the only way out of his gambling debts, he was a tailor by trade and got hopelessly into debt. My friend swore the little toilet was haunted by his ghost and sometimes when he went to sit on the seat his backside would be attacked by tailors needles, he swore this was true, even wanted to show me the marks, I declined, men looking at other mens backsides was illegal back then.

If I were you I would get a Priest in. That there toilet is possessed by a poltergeist for sure.
