This was a much more enjoyable day a week later as I was not doing the paddling.
Ayyyye. You’re from Oz that’s cool. You’ve been to Thailand too. I know a guy we is the captain of a sailboat and takes people on trips during the summer and goes to Thailand for the winter. He says you can’t buy ground land but can rent or purchase a place on the 2nd floor and up.

Thanks for contributing

I will pet my dogs for you. They really are adorable.
Thanks

White water rafting involves paddling.
Did you get very wet? What type of wildlife did you see?
What’s Africa like?
Do you have any pictures?
In answer to your questions Bratti, yes l did get wet! In fact my
feet looked like cork mats when we got to the end!! And l had to
pull our guide back inboard again when he got trapped under the
canoe by the current once! But that was ok because he returned
the compliment to me later!!
Regarding wild life, that side of SA has no hippo's or crocs etc
but plenty of buck and otter and thought we'd seen a leopard once?
And plenty of bird life such as heron and geese etc.
And we had a bonus because on the other canoe we had pilot
instructor and one of his mates located us and put on a aerobatic
display just for us diving down between the mountains onto us!!!
Unfortunately no photos as the camera was kept in a waterproof
bag, and usually we didnt get to camp untill evening and we were
knackered by then!!
Thanks for patting the dogs!! I am a dog person too!!

Next trip will be the kayaks again. While I love having the girls with us , i do fuss and worry about them so much. We kept watering them down , had mattresses for them to lay on and an umbrella to block the sun exposure some.

How are your dogs doing by the way?

Pretty good thanks Bratti.
The old gal is very frail now, but keeps going best she can.

I can certainly relate the that.
Your guide got trapped under the canoe?
Oh my! That doesn’t sound too reassuring for a guide. I thought they were supposed to be IN the canoe guiding.
I understand the camera thing. Cameras have come a long way, especially phone cameras like iPhones and upper end phones. These are so slim that they are easier to carry and travel with than they were years ago. We don’t have many photos of our earlier trips either. The aerobatic display sounds like a true added bonus. That sounds like a very memorable journey.

Do you have a dog or two?

Awwww.... It’s tough when they get old. Our little yorkie is almost 15. She’s such a trouper that we sometimes forget how old she is.

Glad she’s still keeping up and making memories with you.

Same as as mine then Bratti.
I guess we are lucky to have them for this long, as some don't make it to old age, do they.
Have fun Bratti, and keep well.

Sadly no dogs now we are back in uk?
Dont think its fair to get another one as we are over eighty now,
( I am 84) and the dog will probably outlive us?
But we had 7 dogs all at one time in SA!!
And two horses three donkeys and several cats over the years.
Anyway, keep on paddling! It looks like you are still living the life!!
Good luck!

We are BLESSED to have them for whatever time we have them since they offer us unconditional love and remind us to live in the present moment. They ARE a gift.

No apologies needed. You and I can talk about dogs any time but to be honest I thought you were going to chew my face off for having no doggie life jackets lol

Wow 7 dogs at one time. You must have lived on a farm or a ranch. That’s a wise choice. At a certain age we won’t be caring for dogs any more but to be truthful that’s when I want to go. I can’t imagine life without dogs. I can’t even handle thinking about it

We are still fairly young’. I’m only 60 and my husband just turned 55 so yes hopefully we will be doing this for a while yet
