Ive tried the parsnips with Parmesan and they're lovely...everyone at the table loved them...I think it was Delias recipe

Just had a thought ....

Do you guys peel your parsnips? I've always done so, but something like sweet potato roasts much better with the skin on, taste better too.

OK relax guys. I've come up with the following ...

Young, small parsnips don’t really need peeling – just scrub clean and serve whole. Older parsnips should be peeled ...

If you are going to consume a large amount of parsnips then you should peel them. Parsnips contain a group of natural toxins called furocoumarins which can cause stomach aches if consumed in large quantities. These toxins are concentrated on the surface of the parsnip so peeling them will help reduce the toxin levels.

I can't stand parsnips, but we always have them at Christmas. Our family sit around and laugh when they come to the table and nobody eats them - tradition,I suppose.

That was the same with us last Christmas, nobody liked sprouts, so last year I decided not to have them, you should have seen their faces....where's the sprouts.....everyone wanted them....
