I agree. Or to make appropriate arrangements but it's unfair to just blame the receptionist - at least I think so.

One would presume that the practice has a policy of provision for all of its customer base.

If you are entering a doctor's surgery and cannot wear a mask maybe a visor would be an option. Although not so effective as a mask they would provide some protection to others.
