Mystery as 'sonic boom' noise shakes homes in south west

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-56468252

A sonic boom-type noise has been heard across the south west of England which made homes and windows shake.

Did anyone hear it? Whatever it was it didn't reach here in Bristol.

Police forces including Dorset, Devon and Cornwall and Avon and Somerset Police said they had no incidents reported which related to the noise.

My guess is that it was a meteor breaking up - like Cheltenham, but not visible in daylight .....

Didn't hear anything in my little corner of Zumerzet, but then I did have a bench grinder going around that time, plus I was wearing lug-plugs.

My guess would be a pair of RAF Typhoons on an intercept.

Edit

According to the MoD, that's not the answer.

I hope someone will be able to explain it if they live in that area.

Omah may be correct about the meteor .....

Apparently there was no military aircraft in the vicinity.
