Spectator free Olympic Games

With just two weeks left before the Olympic flame is lit in Tokyo, Japan has declared a state of emergency in Tokyo with effect from July 12th due to an increase in Covid cases. In all probability this means that the Olympic Games will be totally spectator free.

I feel sorry for the athletes and paralymplans who have spent so much time in preparation and will be denied the enjoyment of competing in front of enthusiastic crowds.

Guess they cannot cancel it again, the financial losses too great.

I suppose not. One solution would have been to move all planned Olympics forward by four years, but then many athletes would miss their last chance to compete.
