Strange feature in the sky.

Has anyone got an explanation for this which we saw 2 nights ago in the early evening?

Re: Strange feature in the sky.

Could it be a funnel cloud Alan? I know tornadoes are very rare in Britain but I think the cloud formation does happen - it's just that the funnel rarely touches the ground. I could be wrong though, it's just a guess on my part.

I'd rule that out as it was there quite a while before it seemed to diffuse like the vapour trail of an aeroplane.

Here's another, less blown up, photo of it.

That's definitely an unusual flying object Alan when you can't explain it, I'll be very interested when you get an explanation, have you sent it to any agency for identification yet?

Great picture.

Hubby (an aeroplane expert!) reckons its a vapour trail under a high cloud base.

That's the only thing that I could think of, even so it looks a bit odd.
