Do you do the lottery?

This may have been asked before,if so, I apologise...
However I found this on youtube . This is in Canada, but the same systems are apparently operating worldwide.
Some very interesting comments if you scroll down...Many comments are about the fact the 'winning' numbers are not drawn 'live' anymore, they are generated by computer and can be manipulated to suit ...

We do the lottery every Saturday , we live in hope so we can retire early, can't even win a tenner though so I suppose we might as well just throw the money down the drain, oh well, you have to be in it to win it as the saying goes.

I certainly hope they aren't manipulated but who knows.

No l don’t do the Lottery.
A friend of mine did the Euro hotpicks last week and won £1,500 for 3 numbers. If he’d guessed all five numbers, he’d have got a million pounds.

I have been part of a 12 strong Euromillion syndicate at work for approximately 6 years... biggest win to date was less then £20. Not expecting our luck to change but keep going as I have standing order set up to pay the organiser from my current account and don’t miss the four weekly £10.

I do the Lotto on Saturdays, 2 lines. Costs me £16 per month. One line is birthdays, the other is Pink Floyd chart positions.
I'm also in the work sydicate which is £5 per month but it's the Thunderball draw. Complete waste of time. In November I'll be running it and we'll be doing the Lotto instead.

I sometimes do a lucky dip if I like the size of a jackpot. I might play more on the new game - Set for Life I think - that pays out £10k a month for 30 years! How cool would that be?

Years ago when it first started we did it every Saturday - then when it went to Wednesday as well we decided not to bother.

We had the same numbers every week so we felt we HAD to buy a ticket on Weds also just in case the numbers came up.

Instead, we stopped buying a ticket & made sure we never watched the draw.

I do get a ticket each week. Always the same numbers I've won a few bonus tickets and up to $61 once but you never know. Lotto here is run by the Lotteries Commission and 100% of the profits go to some very good causes which gives me an excuse to keep buying not motivated by greed!

It's probably downright un-Australian to say this but I not a gambler and never have been. I have played pub two-up on Anzac Day a few times and I used to play poker for 5 cent ante. bBut that was at uni and I never won a thing. Never gambled since. I just can't see the point.
