Arsene Wenger

Ok, I know there are not many football fans on here, me included tbh but I have supported Arsenal over the years although I would not call myself a true fan.

I just thought that Arsene Wenger should get a mention now that he is leaving Arsenal after almost twenty two years. That's some achievement in football I reckon.

Wenger, 68, won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups, including the Double in 1998 and 2002.

In recent times the team have not done so well and there have been repeated calls for his resignation. I hate it when that happens. It seems you are only as good as your last job after all.

Too true, Longdogs.
I'm no massive footie fan but I recognise somebody who deserves praise. The accolades were led by Alex Ferguson yesterday and that says it all.
Wonder what he will do now....Hull City could do with a kick up the butt!

Re: Arsene Wenger

Wenger did for his employers what he was employed to do for many years he got the team into the champions league with its rewards, he subsequently failed to do so last year and looks to have failed again this year.He is paying the price for failure.

Re: Arsene Wenger

He brought many innovations into British football using science, mathmatics dietary, and training programs.

It took some time for his ideas to come through, but nowadays are normal practice now.

Built good teams with a limited budget compared to the richer clubs. I felt the writing was on the wall after the toon beat them.

Fans are so fickle and owners even more so. But he is worthy of being called a football manager...a legend in his own lifetime.

Re: Arsene Wenger

If you've got eleven (plus subs) motivated, single minded, passionate, team orientated, incentivised players, you don't need a manager.

Really?

I wonder why the many thousands of football teams have not worked that out...
Not forgetting the owners of course, it might save them a few bob

Everyone needs to work in Industry for a while, it's good to do a bit of "lean Production".
