I really think the Democrats should have picked a stronger leader.
I feel for Americans having to choose between those two!

I watched it live on Youtube this morning. What a shambles!

Fancy picking Biden, it should have been an unlosable election but picking Biden made it possible.

Debates commission plans to cut off mics if Trump or Biden break rules

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/commiss...g-next-debate/

The Commission on Presidential Debates is responding to Tuesday's face-off between President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, which was marred by frequent interruptions by the president (73 in total) and mud-slinging.

At the top of the list is controlling the two candidates' microphones and their ability to interrupt one another and the moderator. The campaigns will be informed of the rules, but the source said the rules will not be subject to negotiation.
That'll shut Trump up .....

Re: US election 2020: Guide to the Trump v Biden presidential debates

US President Donald Trump has said he and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus.

It is just 32 days before the US elections. The president will have to quarantine for treatment. Campaign rallies are off. The next presidential debate, in two weeks, is in question.

The first thought that came to me was that the positive test might be a politically expedient "maneuver" (US), given that Trump is trailing in the polls and has just had a disastrous first debate with a potentially inhibiting second in the offing .....

Of course, I could be wrong and Trump may end up with a life-threatening condition rather than experiencing a "mild case" .....

I'm sure that he would have done if Biden had claimed to be infected - he'd have said that Biden was seeking the sympathy vote .....

Re: US election 2020: Guide to the Trump v Biden presidential debates

If Trump could no longer continue with his duties then, presumably, Mike Pence would serve as acting president but would that mean "in all respects" or just as "front man", e.g. appear in the debates, even though, as VP, he has a debate of his own .....

Re: US election 2020: Guide to the Trump v Biden presidential debates

In answer to my own question:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-54382914

President Trump is now in self-isolation but, according to his doctor, is expected to continue carrying out his duties without disruption.

Trump's scheduled rallies in Florida on Friday and in Wisconsin this weekend - two key swing states - have now been cancelled.

It is also not yet clear whether he will be able to attend in person the next scheduled debate with his Democrat rival Joe Biden on 15 October.

The third and final presidential debate is due to be held in Nashville on 22 October.

The vice-presidential candidates' debate, between Republican Mike Pence and Democrate Kamala Harris, is due to take place in Salt Lake City next Wednesday, on 7 October.

2020 United States vice presidential debate

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/elec...-2020-54416128

  • With President Trump suffering from Covid-19 (or miraculously cured) , the vice-presidential candidates' debate has a higher profile than ever
  • Democrat Kamala Harris will battle Republican Vice-President Mike Pence at the event in Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Under US law, the vice-president takes over presidential powers if the president is unable to carry out their duties
  • The group that organises the debates accepted a Biden campaign request to move the pair further apart on stage
  • As a Covid-19 precaution, they will sit 12 feet from each other, with a glass panel between them
  • It starts at 21:00EDT (02:00BST; 01:00GMT) and you can watch it live on this page, or on the BBC News or BBC World channels
Hopefully, the Republican VP will display better manners than his boss .....
