UK Credit Rating

Hi

A little known but vital thing.

It affects the amount we pay on our huge debt.

Hi

It matters not, it is the effect, not the reason which matters.

Re: UK Credit Rating

Of course the reason matters. It is still in the power of the Government to agree a Brexit deal that credit agencies like. We will need to borrow money in the future. This is not the time to play games gambling with the future of the country. It is also in the power of the Government to guide the country through the pandemic without trashing the economy.

Nothing is more important than ending our relationship with the awful EU. No cost too high.

As for trashing the UK economy, all that can be done is try to establish a new normal. The pre-pandemic economy and way of life is toast. Pandemics do that.

That's the sort of mentality that has led to our credit rating being reduced.

Credit ratings from the likes of S & P are of interest only to the global money markets. Granted the credit rating of a country does affect the cost of maintaing both national and private sector loans - but there you go. C'est la vie.

NOTHING is more important than national sovereignty and independence. Nothing.

What is a very significant factor is the GDP but even that is not well understood by Joe Public. In fact manipulating the UK GDP by importing assorted immigrants was all about boosting the UK GDP that was itself supported by Gilts and increasing housing costs supported by mortgage sales to offshore banks and finance houses.

Interesting to look back to Brown-onimics to see where that policy first kicked in
