Re: what's your favourite tipple, and has it changed over the years

Not a big drinker in the house… only when we have people around BBQ and such, then its usually Beer, Lager or for refreshment… St Hellier pear cider hits the spot

Recently Gin seems to be popular around here, served in them big glasses… with special offers, Double £5 and a single being £4-90, we found ourselves joining the trend.

Sambuca I see mentioned, yes to settle the tummy at the end of the night.

Wine, I really can’t tell the difference between a £250 or £10 bottle.

If I have a tipple in the house it’ll be Baileys or Grand Manier.

Whisky for me, preferably Islay or Speyside malts. Highland Park from Orkney is another favourite.

I mentioned earlier that I often have a double measure of Laphroaig on an evening. More recently, though, I've gone back to Lamb's Navy Rum.
They're both very nice, but the rum's half the price of the whisky, so I think I'll stick with the rum!

That sounds a bit unfair. Both of mine are the same proof.

I've always like Red Wine, used to like beer and whiskey too. But just Red Wine nowadays ... a couple of glasses with dinner every night.

Oh, that's OK then.
My rum costs about £16 in the supermarket; the whisky around £28 on a good day.

Re: what's your favourite tipple, and has it changed over the years

Beer is still my favourite drink but when I first came to Australia I used to drink vodka, these days I don't even like the stuff.
On winter's evenings I drink Sweet Sherry (or Sweet Apera as we have to call it now) having moved from Tawny Port. To save constantly having to get up I half fill a schooner glass (425ml) with Sherry and top it up with lemonade. That keeps me going for a while. A flagon of Apera is only $13 from the local grog shop so it is quite economical too.

In summer I just drink beer as it is cooling as well as thirst quenching I keep a few light beers in the fridge to drink during the day in case I have to drive.
