Oh yes that too, I forgot the pump, plus no hot water as both the timer and immersion gone. But I think you can still use the gas hob and oven? We are so reliant on electricity it's scary.

Re: Ciara

Since when did they name storms? Whatever next - Shower Wendy? Drizzle Douglas?

I was woken at 3am last night by the wind and rain on the roof and had 108mm of rain in 24 hours but the storm didn't have a name. This morning all the usual suspects were flooded, train lines blocked, schools shut and roads cut but things will get back to normal within the next few hours. Makes a change from bushfires.

(BTW a town nearby had 397mm in 24 hours.)

Re: Ciara

I was taking my dog for a walk this morning after last night's storm, we walked near one of the flooded creeks, I wish I had bought my fishing rod.

Re: Ciara

We lost a tree. It was a very old apple tree that produced inedible apples but it was riddled with mistletoe. The rest of the trees in the orchard survived but I guess the old tree had been weakened too much by the mistletoe and age yesterday afternoon was just the final straw.

Re: Ciara

After a scarily stormy night with banging noises I came down this morning to find a ridge tile off the roof embedded in the lawn in missed my car by 2ft.

I now have the hassle of finding a builder to repair the roof, not sure if it is worth calming on the insurance because of the excess.

Re: Ciara

Absolute downpour in the early hours of this morning, so loud I thought the windows were going to break, thunder & lightening too. I'm not sure if that was the end of Ciara or the beginning of Dennis.
