Re: Vegatarian and Vegan

It's not too difficult Longdogs, I use soya chicken chunks for jerk chicken with rice and peas, also various spicy vegetable stews, fried dumplings, and fruity puddings that are naturally vegan.
I don't know the Johnny cakes you mentioned, perhaps you have the recipe?

Ooh no, that was long, long ago.

Mrs LD is vegetarian so I tend to use quite a lot of Quorn, either the chunks or the fillets.

That's interesting. I always assumed it originated in the Caribbean, not the US.

Re: Vegatarian and Vegan

mind you without doing too much research at the moment I'm a bit tired - but I think the human body does need protein in the form of meat - does vegan or vegatarian provide protein or enough of it?/

Re: Vegatarian and Vegan

No , animal protein is not essential for the human body.
For vegans there are numerous soya products plus beans, pulses, nuts, wheat/ceitan, and for vegetarians all of those plus eggs, dairy produce and Quorn.
There are many athletes and successful sportspersons who state they are vegan/vegetarian.

One of the main problems for Mrs LD was getting Omega3 but now they are telling us that it's pointless having it anyway.
