Treatment at last.

Some of you know abut my wait for treatment for various problems.

A few weeks back, i blew my stack at my GP, as they were messing about with my appointments, so i phoned and canceled the lot.

I told them im sick of waiting for outstanding work to be done first as my aftercare is not being attended to.

Suddenly out of the blue after 13 months, i have my appointment to start treatment for my eyes.

I get the feeling with the NHS that they are becoming too distant from their patients.

Re: Treatment at last.

I'm glad you're getting your eyes sorted.
Sometimes I think the NHS have secret orders from the government to kill us oldies off by delaying treatments and sending folk home too soon after hospital treatment.
Good for you standing up for yourself.

Nom they seem to spend so much time finding better systems, that they fail in saving time and treating patients.

I know that you have had to wait far too long for some treatments & it seems to have caused more problems so I think you are right to let them know that the care you are getting takes too long.

My care isn't perfect, but it is much faster than yours....so that does indicate a postcode lottery!

Good for you Nom ... sometimes you have to put a rocket up them. Not something most people like to do ... most people simply patiently wait their turn, and time slips until you have to make a stand.
It is afterall your health.

Glad you have appointment, sadly waiting for treatment can sometimes take longer than we would expect.

If we're worried about anything we go private even though I feel quite awkward about jumping the queue.

I think at times, you have to speak out and stand up for yourself, else you get pushed to the back of the queue over and over again.

Well done Nom, and I hope the treatment brings some improvement for you.

Since becoming a Senior, I find that doctors and health care is not what it used to be. They don't seem to care about us....I blame the government. I think they are behind this treatment. The government doesn't want to waste too much money on older people....sad but true I think....

Re: Treatment at last.

Good news Nom, well done on chasing them up.

I know the NHS are in a terrible state, but that's mainly down to bad organisation by the government who don't prioritise budgets properly I think.

It the bloody appointments in the first place that are the long wait, to see an initial specialist that gets my goat. I've been waiting since March to even get an appointment for a problem I have.

Hope it all goes well for you bud

Thanks folks my eyesight is declining, i dont think it is curable, but manageable.

Involves needles in my eyes, my hope it can reverse some of the damage.

So glad I’m not like most people.

Good on ‘ya Nom. That’s the way to do it.
The squeaky wheel might be annoying as hell but it gets noticed quickest.
