I have respect for lots of people, those who do a good job, kind deeds or have great knowledge.
I think people who appologise for being wrong and change their ways or views instead of plowing on regardless also deserve some respect.

The problem might be that the population is growing, and becoming more mixed, whilst the staffing of all of those occupations has not kept pace.

Can't imagine why the government has sought to make cuts in the costs of all of those occupations.

You get what you pay for.

I tend to respect people who show me theyre worth respecting..I dont automatically respect.
I definately agree with you LD about the word "Respect" being another word for "Fear me" in some peoples minds the two couldnt be further apart from each other.

Which will almost certainly never be completed and, even if it is, will only be used by a small number of very rich people... such as politicians and footballers!
