Lee Cain, is out. But it is much more than a random resignation. He was Boris Johnson's longest serving aide in No 10.

His promotion was also being resisted, it's understood, by the prime minister's fiancee, Carrie Symonds, a former head of communications for the Conservatives, and his incoming press spokesperson, Allegra Stratton.

Many will not have heard of him before the story broke, but his resignation comes at a time when the government is facing big decisions over its tackling of coronavirus and the future of post-Brexit trade with the EU.

After a number of rows and U-turns within government in recent months, No 10 will see communications as key in connecting with the country and trying to gain support for its decisions.
"Communications" in this case means propaganda, since the object of The Dome's plan is to make No 10 more like the Oval Office, where government is (currently) run by executive order, and the citizens can more easily be fed misinformation without interference from Parliament .....

Either way both were wrong.
The first is a Laura Keunnsberg construct and the second was decided in January, if not even earlier.

Rumour has it David Frost is quitting at the end of the year as well.

But there again as the chief Brexit negotiator, why wouldn't he ?
