Re: Stem Cell Therapy.

Hmmm - some controversy because it's derived from human embryo's left over from IVF treatment.
I don't know what to think - It does give hope.

And yet.....

I think it looks wonderful Alan I just hope it doesn't prove too expensive to become available to those who need it.

Re: Stem Cell Therapy.

I love to hear of breakthroughs like this in medicine, terrific news and hope for those who can't see, but like Meg says, I hope it's not just for those who can afford it.

Re: Stem Cell Therapy.

Just heard this - a paralysed man, can now walk thanks to stem cell surgery.
Cells taken from the nose - implanted into his back and regrowth taking place - just wonderful
There is a programme about this on BBC 1 tonight at 10.35

Re: Stem Cell Therapy.

But will it be available on the NHS, or will it only be for private patients?

Just saw on the news, more trials to be done, so nothing conclusive till 3 to 5 years ... Each spinal injury being of a different nature - I'm sure the progress will be good though - the future looks good for stem cell techniques
I guess - way down the line, it will be available to all, it will be a cheaper option in the long run ......

Re: Stem Cell Therapy.

Mixed feelings-I have been places and done things that haunt me even today-a Home Office Licence allowing me to experiment on animals.

90% of animal experiments are cruel and a waste of time-but that 10% brings hope to so many
