Thanks Muddy. I didn't know the history of the perpetrator.

You're mistaken. That's just the extremely lame excuse being peddled by the family who don't want their grandfather going to jail for manslaughter or wilful neglect.

He wilfully lifted the child up off the floor and sat her on a ship rail, which is something expressely forbidden to do. Window or no window doesn't matter, but frankly there's no mistaking an open window up on the 11th deck of a ship.

All discussed in detail in the dedicated thread here:

I heard on tonight's news that there were a group of four 17-year olds arrested initially. Only one was charged though.

It transpires ( according to this report ) this was a mental patient who had evaded his minders .
Dangerous and violent and always accompanied by two carers.

If he was known to be dangerous and violent what the heck was he doing out in a public place - carers or not?

Quite
And most of the time carers are generally unqualified minders .

Re: Boy, 6, 'thrown from 10th floor' of Tate Modern

Just read the updates this morning on this case. If he was that dangerous he shouldn't have been out in the first place!!

Unfortunately I can see it having negative affects for others with mental health issues as they are all put in the same category as this guy just cos they have 'mental health issues'.

Schizophrenia should be in a different category like psychosis or something as he wouldn't be the first with it to attack or murder another random person. They can be very dangerous even with medication and carers! ..which is hardly the same as someone suffering from Depression or Anxiety!

Re: Boy, 6, 'thrown from 10th floor' of Tate Modern

Just on this morning's news it was announced that a 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder.

"A teenager has been charged with attempted murder after a six-year-old boy was allegedly thrown from the 10th floor of the Tate Modern art gallery.

The child, who was found on a fifth-floor roof after he fell from the Tate's viewing platform on Sunday, is in a critical but stable condition."

Within that same category are also mothers who have given birth and then experienced problems with a chemical imbalance in their minds due to that. To be categorised in that way must be devastating for those women. All they have done is the most natural thing there is, yet their medical records will show that for ever more. That will affect their future lives as it has to, or should be, declared on application forms for work. Possibly even insurance for holidays and health for example, may be affected, although I am not sure about that.
