Greatest guitar solos

After reading Bread's recent thread about the guitarists Lari Basillio and Go West's Alan Murphy, I thought it would be a good idea to begin one about classic guitar solos (and perhaps some which are highly unsung too).

I'll begin with this obvious one from David Gilmour:

Luv that.
I'm a dire strats fan...mark knofpler is 'one' of my favs and IMO one of the best solo guitarists...

Also the fab Eric clapton, of course ! Another all time great soloist.
its like you can see their very sole when theyre playing,
its very magical to watch them.

What a great idea for a thread Floydy. That comfortably numb solo is one of my favourites also. I’ll listen to the rest sometime today.

The purists slagged this guy off for his slight of hand technique, but, this was probably the most influential solo of the era.
