My guess is that their role will be to help keep everything moving at the UK end.

Wonder who will be helping at the EU end?
Reuters are reporting that the EU have announced that they will ensure trade between the UK and the EU 27 continues unhindered as well as flights, citizens rights etc.

Good news !

See below, the measures are for a limited period ...

What are the European plans?
The commission's 14 barebones measures cover legislation that will aim to ensure some continuity.

They address eight sectors, taking in issues such as transport and customs, data protection, animal health and plants, climate policy and key financial products.

Among other things, the measures would temporarily allow:

British airlines to operate flights into and out of the EU but not within in it
Hauliers to carry freight by road into the EU for a nine-month period without having to apply for permits
UK financial services regulations - in a limited number of areas - to be recognised as equivalent to the EU's for one or two years
The commission has also urged its 27 remaining member states to take a "generous" approach to the rights of UK citizens in the EU following a no-deal Brexit, "provided that this approach is reciprocated by the UK".

The Commission says these measures do not compare to EU membership, or the transition period on offer in the Withdrawal Agreement - which the UK Parliament has not yet backed.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-46617152
We will have some money saved from the EU settlement and our saved yearly contribution to get some permanent measures put into place here .

Hi

They are not punishing themselves at all.

We decided to leave, put down our Red Lines which ruled anything other than a simple WTO Trade Deal.

This means we lose services, which means the EU will make a profit.

We are the ones proposing a No Deal, not the EU.

The big foreign companies who manufacture here will take a decision based solely on profits.

The EU has just signed a Free Trade Agree with Japan.

There is now no reason for any Japanese Car Manufacturer to remain in the EU.

The sky will not fall in on Brexit Day, but we must realise that a No Deal will hurt manufacturers based here.

The EU have just published their preparations for No Deal.

Read them.

And your son wanted out of the EU for fear in an EU army he might be deployed against his own citizens?

Re: Send for the Cavalry

The report I heard, on the troops being put on standby, suggested that it was the Prime Minister's tactic for making sure her deal was accepted.

The alternative is leaving with No Deal, or Corbyn trying to get a general election!

No Deal doesn't sound like a good option, and even if Labour got, and won, a general election, the EU will not be prepared to give them a better deal.

Mrs May and her advisers are not stupid and they are banking or her deal being considered the best option of the 3 bad ones.
If this proves to be the case, there will be a lot of Tory MPs regretting their decision to resign over May's deal.

Everybody has an opinion on what Brexit will mean for the country..... but it has never happened before,so none of them know.
All British people should be working to achieve the best for this country, no matter how much it effects their personal situation......and the only way we can do this is to stop arguing and get on with dealing with the best option!

Yes I can't see a problem with that. He has principles as do many people. What is your problem with people having principles ?

Nothing, but keeping order is an eufemism for being deployed against your own people. If necessay, or so ordered, will he shoot them.

Luckily the army has more foresight than the politicians. The army prepares for this for at least two months already. https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/10...l-brexit-uk-eu

Thanks Swim!

The way I see it is, once we are out and sort our country's finances, they can't force us to join again!

It will do us no good to make enemies of EU countries, so it is better to remain on friendly terms, than just walk away because we can't get everything we want.

We have no idea what the future holds so I see no good reason for not remaining on good terms with our closest countries, but without their control over how we operate!
