When I was a young man, I believed I had psychic powers. I spent a couple of years with Ouija boards, and frequently was successful. I could tell you of many things that happened that have no explanations.

As the years rolled by, whatever powers I might have had seemed to fade away. However, I do have respect for some of the quiet mediums that I occasionally come across, but absolutely none for the stage performers. The latter are very clever and often quite convincing, especially to those who might be grieving the loss of a dear one, or the very naive. I think it is a very irresponsible thing to do.

I know of one old lady who lives quite close. She lives alone, and never volunteers her 'gift'. She gives her time generously to those who need company, her door is always open, and the kettle is always on. She offers understanding, and compassion.

Sadly, the younger generation regard her as a witch. They have no comprehension of the need for such a lady within a community.

When I was a child there was an old lady living in a tumble down cottage..dressed in black with a large hat..no-one spoke to her..I was told not to because she was ''a witch''

Being me..I was straight round there..calling ''hello''..it turned out she was a beautiful spirit..who kept bees..she taught me a lot of beekeepers folklore..I would go every day..walking through those giant hollyhocks..into her house..sit on a chair with 3 legs..she had beautiful blue eyes..and a smiling mouth..

We are wandering off topic, Lilac, and into an area which I would dearly love to discuss. Perhaps we should open up a dedicated thread - but could we stand up to the ridicule which would inevitably happen?
It's another one of those topics where you either believe or don't believe.

Happily.today..you cannot be hanged for having a pimple on your nose..a limp...or owning a black cat..

Ducking stool was a fair option..if you sank and drowned..you were innocent..if you floated..you were guilty..then tortured until you confessed to anything..and then hanged..

British justice eh?

I had an ancestor called ''Mary Bacon'' who was hung as a witch in Essex..her husband went on to marry a much younger model..and then entered Parliament..

Please allow me a little time to think this through, Lilac.
I am not directly involved with Wicca or pagan witchcraft, but there are ramifications which I would avoid if I had to. I promise to let you know what decision I come to.
