Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

I blame Shakespeare Young Robert.
As I have worked in the theatre, I believe many are drawn to that as a place where it was not ridiculed for many years. Now well now! As you say knickers.
Where is Gummy?
Gumbud left the building?????

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Many years ago, I worked in an environment populated by more than the common mean of jokers. We all had celeb names allotted because of our similarity visually, to folks on the TV. I just googled my characters image, and the likeness made me smile, all these years on.

do any of you Scribbles have a lookalike?

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Sorry I will come back to the lookalikes.

I have just come from a meeting with the relatives and staff at the care home. I have explained the distress caused by not letting the two new residents smoke. These two residents have smoked since their teens!!!
Anyway, I have been successful, I took the two residents to the summer house for a smoke. You would think they had won the lottery!!!!
I know the medical profession frown upon this, but in this case, it has lowered their stress levels, I am afraid I find this a good thing.
So now I off to sell snow to the Eskimos

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

I’m so pleased to hear the two old folks were able to have a few drags Sweetie, well done you.

I worked with a few lookalikes over the years, one fella who was the spitting image of Edward G. Robinson, a girl who looked like Diana Dors, but had a squeaky voice like Jerry Lewis, and a boss who looked and acted like Jack Benny, as they used to say “He was as tight as a Camels arse in a sandstorm”

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Speaking of the theatre, Tessie (my late sister in law) used to write clever little sketches for her drama group to use in the local annual Pantomime, she did an excellent impression of Liz Taylor from “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe”, she used this whenever she was asked in her local in Wexford and the regulars lapped it up, that always made her very happy, rest her soul.
One year she had an idea to do a sketch of Liz and Richard Burton rowing like cats and dogs as they usually did, of course THE famous diamond ring had to be squeezed into it and she asked me for some advice on that, I supplied a large glass paste set in a silver ring, it looked the part, and I gave her a few well worn diamond ring jokes used in the trade, (don’t fret, I’m a thoughtful old geezer and I’ll spare you the ingringement by not repeating them) but that didn’t satisfy her, I ended up playing Burton in a six minute sketch for a week in her village hall Panto, talk about being roped in, but she was a very persuasive woman, no one else on earth could get me to do that only her, of course I was in my forties back then and half sloshed every night I was doing it, I have never done anything like that since nor would I, even if I was forty again.
So be careful, your dealing with an experienced ACT-TOR here.
Acting the maggot as me granny used to say.

Now I must away out, time for another little drop.
