We do know a few Masai people but mostly we were in contact with the gimme tribe

Thank you. This is the type of photography I like doing, with animals and birds, The real challenge is patience and having some idea of what you want to photograph.
For example in the flying bird ones I tend to use an f2.8 lens and fast shutter setting to "freeze" the shot. With ones like the big cats depending on light conditions you can get away with an f 4,5 -5.6 lens without any problem

I did mention I had a trick with zoo type shots through wire mesh. What I do using MY DSLR cameras is to get right up close to the fence and use a finger between the lens/hood and the mesh , just to hold it away a bit.
When focusing on the animal the mesh either gets blurred so much it becomes invisible, or if still shows a bit I edit it out.

If one stands back away from the mesh the camera has trouble on which to focus on and usually all you get is a picture full of wire mesh and none of the animal.
