Beware of Greeks bearing gifts............?

I'm surprised this topic hasn't been thrashed to death perhaps many eons ago?

This IMO as got to be the greatest example of "supreme brinkmanship"

who is going to back down? - the Greek PM is now being threatened by his wife leaving him of all things. The Eurozone by in fact come tumbling down if the Greeks pull out. And the Greeks of course may just sink into oblivion?

Wot to do next or as bud abbot would say "you got me into a fine mess now Ollie"!

Shouldn't that be Stan Laurel gumbud
He will have to put the taxes up.
Have you seen that they retire with a full pension at
50 in Greece and don't pay VAT, they don't pay taxes
if they can get away with it and don't have the 50% of
your money for millionaires.
No wonder they have gone bankrupt.
If they do pull out its bye bye Greece as you say.
Shame for the ordinary working people who have had
to have different Governments messing them about.
Some thing has to change and you cant blame the
people who have lent you money for accepting it and
not able to pay it back. No responsibility means lack
of ability.

So where is it all going to go, I wonder? I can't see a Greek referendum approving austerity cuts to pensions and increases in taxes.
Will yet another temporary elastoplast be applied?

Greece should not have become a member of the EU. Greece and Goldman Sachs committed fraud masking the true extent of the Greek deficit prior to admission. The countries a fraudulent basket case. The concern isn't for Greece, it's a dead economy. Greece is being treated with care due to the consequences default and exit will have on the other Southern Euro basket cases; France, Italy, Portugal and Spain, the so called FIPS states, whose collapse will truly bring down the "Mother of all House of cards" the EU.

Mind you , if we had continued our borrowing to prop up the deficit beyond our means as the Labour Party had been boing during their tenure we were fast heading to the same demise.

Yes, you're probably right! Fortunately they're in the wilderness for a bit now, where they belong..

But the deficit has risen under the Tories in spite of their austerity measures.
