Re: Maddy McCann

I agree there are lots of children go missing each year. Most of them do not get as much publicity as this case has had.

I still cannot believe and we said it at the time that parents would go out to a bar and leave their children alone in the apartments.

I never believed the parents from day one, too many story changes, too many lies, too much manipulation of the media, too many high profile friends and "calling in favours", I could go on, but I won't, I think now as I did from day one this particular case has a very strong smell indeed.

Parents do all sorts of silly and negligent things and get away with it. The McCanns did and paid a high price. Others staying in the same place did the same thing and were more fortunate.

This happened not a million miles away from you Shirley...

Children playing in the road one sitting down looks very young. I am shocked by the woman videoing the whole thing too I would have been over there like a shot dealing with the children . (scroll down the page for the video)

I have seen many stories in the news of negligent parents over the years and can't remember any being so cruelly and maliciously vilified for so long in the press as the Mc Canns have been.
I guess social media is responsible for a lot of the nasty gossip.

I agree Shirley, that's what I meant when I said I might feel a tad resentful if my child had been stolen and I didn't get the help the McCanns have had. I should think any other Mum would feel the same.
Like some others said, I feel that little girl is long gone, though it would still be better for the parents to know that for sure. To me, it would be the permanent wondering that would do my head in.

Re: Maddy McCann

Like many others I think there's more to it, but what, we'll probably never know. The parents were wrong to leave 3 young children alone while they went off to socialise and yes, they'll have to live with that - I don't envy them.

Enough money has been spent on this case , I also believe Madeleine is long dead, bless her.

Re: Maddy McCann

When a child goes missing it is up to the parents to persist in the search for their child, this the McCann's have done raising funds and lots of followers. If parents in similar situations do not turn up the heat on trying to find their child that is down to them. The agencies are out there there is the media at their will as well so they must also co-ordinate their search for their child. Anything short of this suggests they just accept the loss which the McCann's never have.

I would also suggest that the Needham's have done their best to carry on the fight to search for Ben over the years but maybe not with enough publicity. I still pray that one day they will find Ben as he is an adult now and must want to find his origins.

It's an example of that old adage Moyra, "he that shouts loudest gets most".
