I remember the little Triumph Herald.
My mum had driving lessons in one of them .. I was about 7 or 8 and I went along and could be heard yelling from the backseat ..Mum put your foot down lights are on going on red! Mum! Swerve! Pedestrian ...
Driving instructor got fed up of me.

Re: Cars you miss

I have never been a speed freak and have had mainly 4x4s over the years with my favourite for off road and towing being the Land Rover Defender, but for the sheer thrill and fun of driving I miss my Isuzu Trooper 3.5 V6, an awsome machine but ridiculously expensive to run, averaging only 15 mpg.....

Re: Cars you miss

I used to enjoy my 1975 Holden HJ Kingswood sedan with its torquey, agricultural 202cu in (3.4litre) straight six and three speed column change (only needed first to get moving and second for going round right angle corners). Carried six passengers with bench seat at the front. The only thing I hated was that the spare wheel took up 50% of the boot.

It was tough and built for dirt roads as well as highway driving.

That's actually an HX but the only difference in appearance was the front grill.

It surprises me how few of them are around now. I never owned one myself but my dad did and he had it sprayed black with chromed rostyle wheels etc. Used to turn heads in it's day. I also used to drive my FIL's mark3 sometimes. great cars, easy to drive and smooth suspension.

Re: Cars you miss

I remember our Triumph Herald, it was dark green and cream.

I also remember our two boneshakers Reliant Regals, 3 wheelers which we bought on Johns motorbike license.

We had many a day where we had to push one of the Regal cars to start LOL

Re: Cars you miss

I once had a Cortina Mk2 GT which I took as part payment for building a guy a garage on Saturday mornings, it was a great motor but it needed some work, so I did a few jobs on my days off for another mate who owned a service garage, and he replaced the clutch and resprayed the car instead of paying me.... happy days...
