Have you ever been on strike?

Did you go on strike when you worked, ( still work) and if you did, did you agree with it?, I have never been on strike, although I nearly did when one of the unions where I worked went on strike, but I belonged to a different union, that wasn’t

Re: Have you ever been on strike?

I went through most of my working life not agreeing with unions but whilst working for the Indian bank and was going through an awful time, decided to join. This backfired on me when the union decided to strike for some reason. I took one day off but then decided, on the second strike day, to cross the 'picket line' (consisting of one or two of the union managers) and thereafter incurred the wrath of one of them. He wouldn't talk to me for a number of years. I didn't want to lose any more pay.

I still don't agree with unions.

Once for a couple of hours when the union I was required to join did. Long time ago and I can't remember what it was about.

No, but I have never worked in that kind of environment and still don't.

Re: Have you ever been on strike?

There was a one day strike at Royal Mail while I was there and as I recall it was very soon after I'd first started, when I was still in my 6 months probationary period, so I worked.

I was a teacher in the 1980s and took part in the strikes then.

Re: Have you ever been on strike?

I have been on strike several times, including 16 weeks in 1970, 3 weeks in 1978 and selective day strikes in 1990 .....

Re: Have you ever been on strike?

No, I have managed to avoid money-grabbing unions all my working life, despite being hounded in my first job when I was just 16.
