An interesting fact is that station clocks, originally, were all over the place until they linked them all. We have an old station clock which has to be wound by hand and getting it to stay on time is almost impossible. It can gain or lose five minutes in a day. Not good if you were expecting your train to be on time.

My Ex-wife had no concept of time. We were often an hour late for things and if we were only half an hour late, it meant she had time to clean the cupboards out before we left. This used to wind me up rotten as I hate being late for anything.

Longy, That issue would never have existed before clocks were invented.

Was ‘wind up’ meant to be a pun?
