Coronavirus: Can my car still get an MOT?

Mine's not due yet but others may have an approaching date, so:

Garages are allowed to remain open under the new restrictions.

MOTs for lorries, buses and trailers have already been suspended for up to three months. The government says these vehicles must be maintained and kept roadworthy.

MOTs for cars, motorcycles and light vans are under review.

Driving tests in England, Scotland and Wales have been suspended for up to three months from 21 March 2020, except for critical workers. All practical driving tests are suspended in Northern Ireland until 22 June 2020.

Mine's booked in for MOT tomorrow and haven't heard anything to the contrary.

Apparently:

The Department for Transport continues to keep MOT testing for cars, motorcycles and light vans under review. It will provide an update in due course.
So your car's MoT is still on .....

Coronavirus: Drivers to get six-month emergency MOT extension

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52036333

Motorists worried about getting an MOT because of the coronavirus crisis, have been handed a six-month reprieve.

The government has granted car owners a six-month exemption from MOT testing.

However, it won't come in until Monday 30 March which means vehicles due an MOT before then must still take it.

The exemption "will enable vital services such as deliveries to continue, frontline workers to get to work, and people get essential food and medicine," the government said.

The exemption will apply to cars, motorcycles and vans, but the government warned that vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition.

Garages will remain open for essential repair work while drivers will face prosecution if they're caught driving unsafe vehicles.
That's mine deferred, then .....

Ditto. It was due to expire on the 31st so is beyond the cut-off date.

Our car’s MOT is due on 14th April so it looks like we’ll have the 6 months extension.
