It's nothing to do with immigration

.[/it’s about showing ID at the BorderQUOTE]
Your understanding of ‘Shenghan’ is simply incorrect.
Far from requiring ID to be shown at a border the Schengen Area, comprising 26 European states have officially abolished passport and all other types of border control at their mutual borders. Shenghan functions as a single jurisdiction for international travel purposes, with a common visa policy.

Re: Second EU Referendum on a reformed EU

There may well be a second EU referendum, but not necessarily on a reformed EU.

Re: Second EU Referendum on a reformed EU

This is just a considered view of my own worded in a way which takes account of the views of Brexiteers. It is not suggested anywhere within the post that any amendment calling for a second referendum would actually result in the course of action proposed.

Re: Second EU Referendum on a reformed EU

They will get a two year brexit delay ... then in 2 years time and by then operation fear will have worked and say it’s been 5 years now so kids can vote ( they will lower the voting age to 16 ) and we must have another referendum as so much has changed since the last one

This was always the course of action since the moment chief remainer May took up the post of PM .... If it was a bank raid you’d call it an inside job so go figure !

In the past European countries have legislated for “second” referendums on EU treaties on a number of occasions and in circumstances where voters who have initially rejected an EU treaty have then went on to subsequently vote in favour of it in a second referendum (e.g. Denmark on the Maastricht Treaty, Ireland on the Nice Treaty and Ireland again on the Lisbon Treaty)

With all of aforementioned second referendums ultimately proving successful, why do voters change their mind in these repeat referendums? Although not having personally researched the reasons why voters may have changed their minds it is not unreasonable to conclude that the benefits gained from continued EU membership was at the forefront of many, if not most, of the voters minds.

Whilst an ardent supporter and advocate of having a second vote on the UK’s membership of the EU I also recognise that if one were to be held, without having implemented the result of the first EU referendum, there could be widespread civil unrest.

Therefore, in my opinion before any vote takes place it should be incumbent on the Government to at first seek a qualified and legally binding commitment from the EU to relook at Treaty change around ‘freedom of movement’. If achieved, not only would such a pre-condition address a major concern of Brexiteers but also remove a significant risk available to the ‘No’ side and so ably used against the ‘Yes’ side in the first referrndum

I note that they stopped holding referenda once they got the desired result.

No it isn't.

Just because I show my passport it doesn't mean I have a right to live there.

Tell me - how do we cap immigration from the EU with out opt-out of Schengen ?

The UK has never been a signatory state or part of the Shenghan area.
