Bread, this one was lost on you. What I meant was that everyone on this forum is equal. Or is anyone denying that?

Re: Switzerland getting EU treatment similar to the UK.

Hi

The EU is protecting it's Single Market, they are good at that.

Even after we leave, the EU will be part of the biggest Free Trade Block in the World.

They are pressing ahead with big Trade Deals, in particular one with India.

It was the UK who where objecting to that, two main reasons, import Tariffs on Scotch Whiskey and a demand for more immigration from India.

They can now conclude the deal as we are leaving and India is forecast to be a bigger economy than the UK in a few years.

It is a growing market.

Whilst I am for Brexit, I do not share , given the mess that our idiots have made of Brexit Negotiations and carrying over our existing Trade Agreements, that they will be any better negotiating new ones.

I see Rutte lost 12 seats to the Eurosceptic, "Dutch First", FvD.

Looks like you will be leaving the EU next - whether you like it or not.

No he hasn't lost a single seat, but it is a bit difficult to explain. But, if you are interested.
The netherlands is divided in 12 provinces, each has a kind of partiament (provinciale staten) with representatives of the same political parties as in our house of commons (tweede kamer). Members of the provincial parliaments elect the members of our house of lords (eerste kamer). So the voting for our provinciale staten will be reflected in the house of lords.
Rutte needs the house of commons for legislation. He still has a majority there. Legislation also needs to pas the house of lords. There Rutte didn't have a majority. That has been a disadvantage from the beginning.
The elections yesterday for provinciale staten didn't change that. A new party, with similar interests as geert wilders, has gained access in 3 of the 12 provinces. This party will be represented in our house of lords by the end of this year. On balance little changes because geert wilders has lost followers, which apparently went over to the new party.

So our system is similar to the british in that we too have two houses. Our house of lords is democratically assembled by indirect voting of the constituents.

Yesterday the election for provinciale staten were held. In a number of provinces Forum has for the first time gained some seats. Members of provinciale staten elect the members of our eerste kamer(cfm. your house of lords). Based on the outcome of the elections yesterday it is projected that forum will get 11 seats in eerste kamer. Rutte's party, VVD, has 12.
Rutte's dealings are with de tweede kamer. There Forum has two seats. That will remain unchanged till elections for tweede kamer (cfm. your house of commons) in 2021.
