WTFH. Donkeyman.
Hi

It is theoretically possible, but without an extension from next Friday, it is virtually impossible.

They would have to introduce new legislation and get it through.

It would be an incredibly stupid thing to do, it would mean the end of the Conservative Party .

More emphasis should be given to the well being of the country rather than the Conservative party which got us in to this quagmire in the first place.

An invented problem if ever I saw one.

With all the rules and regs being controlled by the EU, why do we need a House of Commons?

If we are forced to stay in the EU, surely we could focus on the MPs, whom we are paying, and the HOL, whom we are paying, with a view to, at the very least, reducing their impact to that of Civil Servants?

We should be asking ourselves what our MPs are for?

I wonder how other EU Countries staff this up. Do they all have multiple levels of assembly?

Even if we did "remain" the EU wouldn't like it because all our Eurosceptic MEPs would just veto everything.

Personally I don't care whether Britain stays or leaves but I really hope that the EU says "Non" to an extension so the rest of the world is spared another 3 months of this farce.

It has been going on for three years now and really is getting unbearable, beyond a joke.

Ah! The power of the Celts. They stick together, often against the Brits.

Re: A short extension to Article 50 likely ( Latest events on leaving the EU March 20th)

Apparently the EU are prepared to grant an extension, but only until just before the EU elections (22nd May I think it is). They will not go beyond that because they are dead against the UK voting in the EU elections if we are not going to remain in. And I don't blame them - why should be be allowed to be involved in the voting process if we aren't going to be participants? - it would make things intolerably complicated - not that they are not complicated now. Therefore, three possible options, accept the deal, leave with no deal or revoke article 50 - but all before the 22ndMay. May has said she won't go with a no deal - so probably that only leaves two. Getting tighter and tighter by the minute. If May does resign I don't see how we can get much done before the EU deadline and the elections. Looks like we are totally stuffed to me.

Hi

They never did before, so why should they now?

They would have to get an awful lot of other MEP's to support them.

And why would british mep's veto (which is not a possibility in europarliament, It's ruled by majority)? Seeing all the money flowing to the UK?

Re: A short extension to Article 50 likely ( Latest events on leaving the EU March 20th)

Hi

Well the Brexit date has been put back, but only if Parliament agrees.

May simply does not have the authority to delay from next Friday on her own say so.

She has another bash at getting her awful deal through Parliament next week.

If this fails the EU have given Parliament two weeks to agree on what to do, something that they have failed to do for two years.

I cannot see anyone agreeing to anything whilst May stays in power, so the pressure will be on for her to go.

Same mess, different timescale.
