Yuk again. I don't like that idea.

I saw somewhere recently about people making memento's out of placentas as well. Double yuk.

Once upon a time, taking photographs of the new baby was enough!

I can understand the sentiment but no thanks, not keepsakes made from breast milk.
A lock of my cherished babies hair would do for me.

Yes, thats a nice idea too, Mort.
I have still got my son's little plastic wrist band from when he was born too.

Re: mothers milk int jewelry

People keep the weirdest things. I was born with a caul and Grandma had it preserved and sealed into a silver locket. Apparently Victorian women used to wear bracelets made from their dead loved ones hair. One of my friends kept her son's first baby teeth when they fell out. Another friend kept her cat's whiskers when they moulted.

I wonder why we do it?

I can understand how good it is to have photos of your children, because they provide evidence of how much the change over the years.
I don't understand the need to keep all the other peculiar items though..... shouldn't you just have loving memories of when your baby was born?
