A young woman found £52000 deposited in her bank account. She knew it was an error but, egged on by her boyfriend, she decided to say nothing. She spent £9000 and the rest moved into another account. Apparently it's a criminal offence to hang on to money which isn't yours and is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Of course she was found out but the judge took pity on her and she got 12 months community service. Would you have owned up ?

Actually that is peanuts compared to the Kiwi case where millions were deposited into a couple's account by mistake a year or so ago
