The boy in striped pyjamas

Anyone just seen this tragic film on BBC2 ronight, about the little boy befriending a Jewish boy, then they both got gassed?
Can't imagine the hell of living like that - it's beyond words.

I watched the DVD a couple of years ago, Mups... I wasn't expecting that ending and found it very upsetting

Yes, it was Mags. Could that sort of life ever return do you think?

I sincerely hope not Mups, I would hope life was more civilised these days

My granddaughter's class had to watch that film in Junior school as part of their school project, most of the children were traumatised by it and I'm not surprised. I would have thought it far too distressing to show to young children.

I watched this film a couple of years ago and could foresee what was going to happen towards the end was was shouting "No, no, no" at the television - very distressing but a poignant film.

I don't know what age your granddaughter's class is Mags, bit I wouldn't have thought youngsters would have understood, especially about the gassing. I wonder what the school's reason was for showing them a film like that?

She was 10 at the time and they were studying World War 11...
