Australian broadcaster Clive James has died

The Australian broadcaster and author Clive James has died. I hadn't seen him for some while but understood him to be unwell back in 2009.

CJ has been ill for a long time, I have heard him joking about his illness and demise on the radio .

A great raconteur and humorist, he will be missed

A real shame.
I used to watch his traveling programmes in the 1980s. An excellent broadcaster and writer who will be sadly missed.

I just got up and read this. I am gutted. I have read several of his books. "Unreliable Memoirs" being my favourite. I knew his passing was not far away but it's still very sad when it comes. He was one of my heroes. Vale Clive James. An irreplaceable gem.

We seem to be losing a lot of talented people at the moment.

Clive James was always good fun both on the radio and TV - he will be missed.

Yes Judd, I liked him too.

There was a small tribute to him on the tea-time news tonight and he said 9 years ago, when he was diagnosed with Leukaemia plus Emphysema, he thought to himself - "Shall I go home and sit quietly, and just wait till my time is up, or shall I carry on doing what I enjoy for as long as I can?"

He said he chose to carry on until the end.
